The List: 100 Greatest Movie Posters: #20-1

Stefan Halley June 15, 2011 3

The final part of 100 Greatest Movie Posters is finally here. The last twenty posters are very different but all share one thing in common, they are amazing pieces of art. The posters chose are all US theatrical release posters (as far as I can tell). It would be fun to do this again but with teaser posters. Some of the most creative posters found in research were teaser posters.

What did you think of the list? Did you see your favorite movie poster in the top 100?

If you haven’t seen the first 80 posters, take a moment and check them out.

that Fargo poster is absolutely brilliant. great choice for #1. The 2001 poster at #20 also ranks as one of my favorites. As I followed these posts I was curious as to your methodology for ranking them. Also, was there a repository somewhere that you were able to initially search to narrow them down to 100? I’d love to browse it sometime to find some other gems

I started with about 300 posters and narrowed down from there. They are all on my computer. It’s difficult to describe the process. I started with posters that were unique, made a statement, set a trend or did it better than the original.

I got it down to 150 posters then I had to ask a few people to help me narrow down the list. Check out http://www.moviepostershop.com/ and http://eu.movieposter.com for lots of great posters.
