The Oscars are less than a week away, and by now I’m sure you’ve already predicted who you feel will walk away with the big prizes.  So in the spirit of such speculation, I think it’s time to play a little game!

Below I’ve listed all the major categories and all the various nominations, highlighting who I think will take the award. In the comments section below, you can copy and paste my list, and make your own thoughts known. After the ceremony (sometime on the 28th to be more precise), I’ll look at all the predictions and crown a winner! At the minute all that’s on the line is pride (but that could change if the competition gets sufficiently heated), but hey it’s a good old dose of geeky fun. Remember this isn’t an opinion piece; it’s a contest to see who can most successfully second guess the academy. For instance we all know “Black Swan” is far better than “The Kids Are All Right”, but it’s probably the latter that stands more chance of scoring the Best Picture gong. So without further ado, here are my predictions:

Best Picture: True Grit, Black Swan, The Fighter, The Kids Are All Right, Inception, The King’s Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Winter’s Bone, Toy Story 3

Best Director: Darren Aronofsky, Tom Hooper, The Coen Brothers, David Fincher, David O. Russell

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, James Franco, Javier Bardem, Jesse Eisenberg

Best Documentary: Restrepo, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Waste Land, Inside Job, Gasland

Best Cinematography: Black Swan, True Grit, Inception, The Social Network, The King’s Speech

Best Score: Inception, How to Train Your Dragon, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, 127 Hours

Best Sound Mixing: The Social Network, The King’s Speech, Salt, True Grit, Inception

Best Make-Up: The Wolfman, Barney’s Version, The Way Back

That’s more or less every major category, meaning your score will be totaled out of 20. However if you correctly guess the Best Picture, Actor, Actress, animated and documentary sections you will receive a bonus point. If need be other tiebreakers can be formed closer to the time. So let’s hear what you think, and remember this contest is open to all, so I’m hoping to hear from the staff of EatSleepLiveFilm as well!!!

Entrants will be accepted right up until the ceremony kicks off on the 27th!
