Science fiction has been around as long as film. The first sci-fi film features aliens tormenting explorers. Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde created the mad scientist that dominated sci-fi horror in the 30′s. The 50′s brought alien and monster movies, which gave rise to b-grade and z-grade movies.

In the 70′s, Alien proved that in space no one can hear you scream. If Star Wars launched the modern science fiction films, then Alien launched modern science fiction horror.

This episode I cover three science fiction horror films, Ridley Scott’s Alien, Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce and John Carpenter’s The Thing.
